Analyzing The Top-Rated Recipes
While working on my post A Beginner's Guide To Making The Most Highly-Rated Recipes I downloaded the 100 top-rated recipes and analyzed them to find recipes suitable for beginners
But I kept wondering what else could be learned from analyzing those top recipes? And even if little could be learned, would some analyzation be interesting? I figured that both could be possible, so I did some more programming...
Flavor Counts
Making all of the top 100 recipes would require the purchase of 172 different flavors.
Out of all these flavors, 89 are used in only a single recipe in the top 100.
With the remaining 83 flavors, you could make 45 of the top 100 recipes.

Flavoring Cost
For these sections about cost, my program did not attempt to get the most economical pricing. I went to eCigaretteExpress.com and got the size and price of the smallest bottle for each brand. For instance, 13ml for Capella, 1 dram (3.7ml) for LorAnn, 15ml for Flavorah, and usually 10ml for any others. The calculations below assume that bottle size and pricing are consistent for each brand.
I did not attempt to be economical by buying larger bottles when more than 1 small bottle was necessary. If the calculations called for 13.1ml of some Capella flavor then the program required 2 bottles at 13ml each.
The idea of this section is to show comparitive costs, not perfectly accurate costs of each.
That said, if you made a 30ml bottle of each and every one of the top 100 recipes...
You would need to buy 185 (small) bottles of flavoring.
You would spend - in the US, at eCigaretteExpress.com - $395.24. Though I'm sure you could do better by buying larger bottles when necessary.
You would then have 1849ml of flavoring, but making a 30ml bottle of each of the top recipes only requires 466ml, leaving you with 1383ml of flavors left over.
Per Recipe Costs
This section considers the cost of flavoring for each recipe. It uses the same bottle size and pricing as the section above. However, my program is calculating the cost of only the amount of flavorings used in the recipe, and does not consider the overhead of having any of that flavoring left over.
For instance, a 13ml bottle of Capella costs $2.50, which is 19.23 cents per ml. If a recipe calls for this flavor at 6%, that's 1.8ml for a 30ml bottle. 1.8ml at 19.23 cents per ml costs 34.61 cents.
The costs shown consider only the flavors used when making a 30ml bottle, and does not include PG, VG or Nic.
The 10 most expensive recipes are listed below.
Moon Butter - $1.32
Poptart v5 - $1.26
Mother's Unicorn Milk - $1.16
