Can't reply to posts (eg. giveaways)

@Kenbu wrote:

Hi guys.

I’m relatively new here. Haven’t posted much as I have been absorbing all the useful information and looking at delicious recipes.
Have been trying to get into DIY for a while now. I’m all ready to go as far as mixing is concerned. Just waiting for some sweet deals to come very soon in the upcoming holidays before I pull the trigger on the supplies that I need.

I have just noticed the giveaway by HeavenGifts and they were waiting for more entries in the last round. I have tried to enter but realized that I cannot post a reply.
What is this restriction a result of? Lack of posts or something?
I would love to enter the giveaway but I’m not able to, please help.

Not sure if it’s appropriate to post in this general section but this is the most fitting subsection that I see. Apologies if it’s not the right place.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Pugsley drops it like it's mildly warm with the Digiflavor Drop RDA

Oh good! a 24mm RDA, I haven’t read a review on a 24mm RDA for at least…ooh…3 minutes?..

I know that’s what you’re thinking, and I don’t blame you in the slightest, the market is sodden with the things, all trying to be cleverly innovative and all trying to be the next Goon…only with hopefully more competent customer service (ooh)

6 months ago I made a comment in one my reviews that I didn’t know what else there was to do with a 24mm RDA…where else could they go?..What else could be done? You had every top tier reviewer in the world putting their spin on most Vaper’s staple dripper…even the odd supplier was trying to get in on the act…with unsurprising results…

And here we are again…another 24mm RDA, manufactured by Geekvape’s spin off company Digiflavor and designed by another video reviewer, and this time it’s the turn of much loved and respected Brian from the popular tube channel ‘The Vapor Chronicles’…I don’t personally know the guy for reasons that I am sure confuse Brian himself but I have heard nothing but good things about him…and I am almost certain…he says the same thing about me…what with my … booming… popularity…n all…

Regardless…His RDA has been making waves across this foggy sea of ours with nothing but high praise causing more than it’s fair share of anticipation from the vaping community…is this it?..will the Drop actually be big enough to finally smash the Goon’s legendary status??

You know how I like to keep abreast with the latest in RDA innovation …(sigh)

And a warm welcome to you once again my fanatical fluffy flavour freaks, today we have yet another much anticipated device from Geekvape…well…Digiflavor…same thing really, Digiflavor have been big hitters in the vape game for a while now and man do they love doing collaborations with vape reviewers…I’m still waiting Digiflavor…seriously…get your act together…I won’t wait forever you know…

This time Brian from ‘The Vaper Chronicles’ is brought to the fore with his rendition of a 24mm RDA…and damn…the boy did good, the hype is real brethrans and sistrens…courtesy of my glutton for punishment suppliers Heavengifts

The Lowdown

The Digiflavor Drop RDA is a 24mm dripper with a unique 4 post raised build area and one of the most effective adjustable airflow designs I have used to date. It’s available in just two colour variations, SS and black…and…black and SS…?

Drop-RDA-1

Not really a fan of the appearance of these colour combinations but I’ll come to that later.

From the top we have custom tip friendly 810 fitting with an internal O ring and in the package we have an acrylic frosted clear 810 tip…which I love, and a thin wall Ultem 810 drip tip should you have a tiny pursed mouth…

Which I don’t love…this thing does nothing for the look of the Drop at all but at least it’s an option should you not like using stubby drip tips.

Also in the package you get the customary baggy of O rings, spare flat head grub screws, a 510 adaptor and a tri driver…I did take a picture of the package but I took so many damn pictures of this thing I had to whittle it down…and it doesn’t really make for an interesting image lets be honest…

The top cap plays an integral part of the whole airflow mechanism and is one of the two things I absolutely love about the Drop, it works in the same way as many other RDA’s right back to one of my old favourites the Mutation X V4, not so much of a new idea…but more of an updated one…and utterly brilliant…

It also doubles up as a hole saw…should you need one…

The accompanied air flow holes in the sleeve of the Drop …of which there are 10 on each side, are laid out in a ‘T’ shape and are individually adjustable thanks to the unique stepped design of the inner sleeve, just turn the top cap and watch each hole close independently to finely tune your perfect air flow from the top row…down to the bottom. This works incredibly well as it spans the whole height of the build deck so you can bring the airflow down lower to come in underneath your coils for more flavour…or bring it higher and more open to throw those lovely thick fluffies.

Only one issue with this that I found and that’s the O ring that holds the top cap in place…wayy too tight, I swapped it out with one of the spare O rings in the baggy in case the one fitted was just freakishly thick but I still had the same result, if I left this thing alone for a few minutes there was nothing I could do to get the top cap to move, I had shove my finger inside to try and pop it out…which also wasn’t easy…I had to lube it back up with some liquid and start again…it would be fine at first…still stiff but movable…then it would tighten up again…it just needs a thinner O ring, one thin enough so that not only can you adjust the airflow…but also so that you can remove the top cap for painting your coils without having to remove the barrel.

Another excellent addition to the barrel is the cut out notch at the bottom on each side which fits over a step on the base, again not a new idea, this was done on the Dejavu RDTA and I noticed how useful it was on that too, it does two things, firstly it lines up your airflow perfectly with the side of the coils and secondly it really helps with screwing the RDA onto your mod as it stops the base from spinning inside the barrel…especially useful if you have put it on too tight, more than once I have had to remove the barrel and get some pliers on the posts to remove a stuck on RDA…nice touch.

The next image I have named…(ahem)…Drop - The base

And thrusts it’s way right up the RDA’s wrong’n to stand loud and proud in the base of the build deck.

Without squonk pin…and with squonk pin.

The Build Deck

Well…you’ve already seen what makes this build deck so very special and unique…and although special and unique doesn’t always necessarily mean good…on this occasion…it very much does…

On the gold plated deck we have 4 posts raised high above the base…and this is where the Drop get’s it’s name, you simply ‘drop’ the coils in…think post-less deck…with post’s…(?)

The post’s are designed in such a way that you can drop your coil leg in, position it, tighten up the flat head grub screw and then…and this is the good bit…simply trim the legs underneath thanks to the slash cut notches on the inside giving your clippers enough access to trim the legs high up…(by the way…no coils included in package…grrr)

Leaving a very tidy and flush finish…

And those post holes incidentally are massive PLUS the grub screws go the right way so there will be no twisting of any legs…anywhere…

b03ae718a93a33f81abbfaf167e48e00

To put it simply…this is THE easiest deck in the world to build on.

There is also a ton of space in this deck for cotton AND air…you could pretty much stuff a whole sheep in there and still have space for airflow.

The sheer amount of cotton in there coupled with the incredibly deep juice well means this thing will hold a ton of liquid.

OR…if you’re feeling vaguely adventurous…you could do this …

Which is precisely how I have mine…LOVE my triple coil builds at the moment and this was by far the easiest deck out of any of my 24mm RDA’s to accommodate one…even more cotton…even more juice…I’m so glad I DIY my own liquids…and no…that’s not a euphemism …

It will of course be more than happy with a straight forward dual coil build, with ‘normal’ slightly less psychopathic twisty’s…

All in all this deck offers a LOT of build options, you could quite easily fit a quad build in there if you wanted to, it has become my favourite build deck so far…if only they made a 30mm version…I would be all over that shit…because the vape off this thing…with that triple build…and an offensive (but safe) amount of wattage…is incredible…

The Vape

Incredible (you said that) …The airflow is silky smooth, the top cap is beautifully domed and the coils are that high that the easiest place for your air to go is underneath, and the distance between the coils and the tip is as minimal as possible…put all those things together and I honestly don’t think it can get any better…it’s exactly the set up that an RDA needs to give amazing flavour and vapour quality…and with a triple build?..well…if you like thick warm flavoursome clouds…this is where you need to be…it’s absolutely gorgeous.

On full bore the airflow is very free but it barely makes any difference to the flavour production, I kept mine wide open purely because of the heat coming from my triple build but the options for fine tuning the Drop are endless…the specs however…thankfully…are not…

The Specs

Specs:

Size: 24 x 26.5 mm
Drip Tip Size: 18 x 8 mm
Deep and spacious juice well
Kit Contents:

1 x DROP RDA
1 x 510 Drip Tip Adapter
1 x 810 Clear acrylic Drip Tip
1 x 810 Ultem drip tip
1 x Allen Key
1 x Spare parts pack
1 x User Manual
1 x Bottom Feed Positive Pin
Almost painless.

Final Thoughts

My final thoughts are more than likely quite obvious, Digiflavor and Brian have hit a home run with the Drop RDA it’s that simple, the flavour is nothing short of epic and the cloud production is more than admirable. The build deck is one of…if not the best I have ever built on…certainly the easiest, the build quality and machining is top notch, it comes squonk ready and the only 2 gripes I have are the PITA o ring holding the top cap on and…the colour choice…

Now this in my opinion… is either a mistake or…a touch of sales orientated genius… I personally think the SS on Black and vice versa make the Drop look cheap, it doesn’t go and although it might make it stand out amongst the crowd I think the vast majority of vaper’s would rather have solid colours given the choice…and the only way you will be able to achieve that…is if you buy 2, one of each colour, and then swap the bits around…crafty…but…very tempting, because the exterior of the Drop needs all the help it can get to be perfectly honest as it’s about as uninteresting as it gets in the looks department but…at least it would look sleek in one solid colour…but then when you consider just how good every other bit of the Drop is…the looks really do become secondary…Goon Killer?..well…It’s my opinion that the Goon was killed long ago, there are at least a dozen top shelf RDA’s (if not more) that have arrived since then that surpass the Goon in innovation, flavour quality and pretty much every other area…the Goon may of set the bar for a lot of vapers and earned it’s ‘legendary’ status, but apart from popularity the bar has been set higher in almost every area since…and that is most certainly the case…with the next category.

The Price

Apparent full blown retail of the Drop is upward of £40.73 / $54 which is obviously too expensive in today’s over saturated market…too much competition, so Heavengifts currently have it with a third off at £27.15 / $36.00, plus on top of that I can get you a further 15% off if you put in my discount code APUGS15 at checkout bringing it down to £23.08 / $30.60 …which is perfect. Find that deal here…

Digiflavor Drop RDA - Discounted Price

I can recommend the Drop RDA to everyone…there are enough options available that it would be hard not to find a build that will rock your world.

And as ever my doors are always open over at Steampugs should you wish to see how the Drop scored against other pieces of awesome vapeology and if you come to visit be sure to check out the other reviews from the Steampugs Steam Team and have a peruse around the shop where you will find quite a wealth of bargains and even the odd discount code.

Anyone else found their sweet spot or does this search never end IYO?

Best Juice Testing Practices

@SthrnMixer wrote:

It feels a little weird opening this discussion as it seems kinda day 1 stuff, but there are parts to the process which may seem a little counter-intuitive. I’d venture a guess some of you will feel this should be common knowledge. As always though - opinions and input are encouraged.

Having a discussion with @TheTinMan1 on Discord, the subject came up of how often first impressions of juice can change substantially in just a few hours. I gave the example of a project I’m working on now which I’ve habitually mixed later in the day and tasted after mix. Often I will taste it again next morning only to find a dramatically different impression of the juice than I had the night before. Why would that be?

Well we talked about it and it seems likely that after a day of vaping, the senses could be a little muddled. One might think this would cause other flavors to be somewhat muted. And that well may happen, especially if the tested juice has a similar profile as what’s been vaped throughout the day. However, I’ve found evening mixes that I try after a shake often seem to “pop” only to find the next morning to be somewhat dull or underflavored. I have a theory for both of these.

First, let’s say I vape Strawnana Custard all day. Then in the evening I make a banana cream recipe. To me it reasons that since I’ve vaped banana all day, the new recipe may seem somewhat flavorless due to the taste and olfactory senses having been inundated with banana for several hours. However, let’s say I vaped a tobacco vape all day. That banana cream mix may just explode with flavor. Look at it like this. If you work on a dairy farm smelling cow poop all day, you may not notice your dog’s fart nearly as much as if you worked at Yankee Candle Image may be NSFW.

Hmmm, some will attest that taste and smell are not that related, but I submit that taste is extremely dependent on smell. Whatever, you get the point.

So how does this information lend itself to juice testing best practices? Well, first I think one should do their testing early in the day. Perhaps before vaping anything else. Secondly, I feel it would be good that if you’re going to test more than one mix, you should have contrasting flavors. So instead of testing 3 different strawberry mixes, maybe have 3 different types such as bakery, candy, tobacco, etc. I know this isn’t always possible, but it is always possible to test on different days or hours apart on the same day. I’m finding this to be more important now as I’ve got a project I’ve been working on and feel I keep tripping myself up by testing after a long day of vaping, and testing similar flavors at the same sitting.

Thoughts, ideas or suggestions?

Flavorah pricing

@TorturedZen wrote:

Wasn’t sure if this post belonged here or the vendors section, so I flipped a coin. Flavors section won.
Anyway, I’m putting together my flavor orders tonight and I just felt a need to vent a little. Now maybe my irritation is misplaced and if so someone please educate me. But here’s the deal… every time I browse Flavorah’s product and look at their pricing it’s all over the fucking place. There’s a few at $5.49, spotted one at $6.49 then $7.49. There’s no continuity. Cinnamon for $12.49. And let’s not overlook the Alpine Strawberry. Seventeenfuckingdollars!! Ok I kind of get this one. They’re tiny and require a fuck-ton of them to make anything useful. It’s the sinsemilla-caliber of strawberry varieties.

Now if we look at the other flavor companies such as TFA and CAPs there is no roller coaster pricing. All their products that I’m aware of are evenly priced. You can buy 30ml of Vanilla Custard v1 (arguably their most popiular flavor) or 30ml of their shittiest tastes-like-ass flavor…and still pay the same. Same is true for TFA, FW and even RF for the most part. Now FA bounces around occasionally but nothing too drastic.

So Flavorah, WTF are you doing? Why do I see your Cookie Dough at $5.49 but your regular Cookie is twice as much at $12.49?? Waffles at $8.49. Why?
For godsake standardize your pricing so us middle-class working stiffs can afford your product!

Laisimo F4 360 watt mod review by Mjag...41mm tank friendly...Yes Please

@mjag wrote:

Thank you for taking the time to view my review on the Laisimo F4 quad 18650 360 watt mod review. This was provided directly from Laisimo for the purpose of this review, more info can be found here: http://www.laisimo.com/goods-59.html

Please keep in mind that this is a pre-release version and my contact at Laisimo has assured me the engineers are still working out the kinks prior to final release. I have been letting them know any issues I have come across in the month I have had the F4, this is not just a review but a beta test as well.

There is a lot to get into so if you would like to save some time I go over most of the major points in my Pros and Cons as well as conclusion.

So you just got a Steamcrave Titan or Voltrove 41mm tank but overhang gives you the heebie-jeebies? Well Laisimo has a mod for you…Enter the F4!

Image may be NSFW.

Look, No Overhang!!! Woooot!

First impressions

First thing out of the box was it sure is lighter than what I was expecting but doesn’t feel cheap. How light you ask (maybe you didn’t ask but I am going to tell you anyway) at only 168 grams without batteries it is lighter than the Wismec Reuleaux RX200S at 173g, Lost Vape Triade at 191g and the Snowwolf 365 (4) battery mod at 180g. Loaded up with (4) Sony VTC5A batteries is weighs 360g which is not far off the Triade loaded with (3) batteries at 335g.

They used the same screen as there Wyvern 235 which is a good thing, I really like that color screen. It is easy to see even in direct sunlight, I think it is one of the better screens on a mod especially when you consider the price point.

You can even go into the menu with 3 clicks of the power button and see the levels of all 4 of the batteries.

It is pretty balanced just like in the pic, I took out all 4 batteries and measured 3.83 and 3.84 for all 4 batteries and repeated that on another occasion, it is evenly discharging the batteries.

Is it big…it holds 4 18650 batteries so yeah. They did a good job keeping it as small as you could possibly get it. Sure I got teased a little… “hey can I get a beer out of your mini fridge” hahahaha, very funny…punks.

Here are some comparisons to the RX200S and Triade DNA250 so you can get an idea.

For holding an extra battery over these 2 triple battery mods it is not as bad as you would think. Is it as comfortable to hold, no but it is not uncomfortable to hold with my 8" paws.

It is actually more compact than the Snowwolf 365 quad battery mod but the Snowwolf has a better Reuleaux style configuration which makes it more ergonomic to hold.

The interface is basically the same as the Wyvern 235 with the exception that the F4 adds a Power Bank mode (yes it does work, I was able to charge another mod as well as my cell phone) the battery power screen I referenced earlier and a option to adjust the colors of the side Laisimo LED’s.

You have a number of different options for the colors on the side including using the custom setting and leaving all the options as 0, this will essentially turn off the side lights.
I need to note and I also made Laisimo aware that at times the left side would be off but the right side of the LED would work. It would then come back on by itself for no apparent reason, this has happened 3 times in the month I have been using the F4. Doesn’t affect performance any, just looks.

The battery door is secure but there is a little flex, I would have liked to see another couple of tabs on the sides rather than just on the end. I never felt like it was going to come off though but a little more secure would be nice.

Check out them guts

I have been known to take apart things and sometimes I put them back together. Ever since the “Press fit 510 scandal” I have been checking out mods to make sure my precious tanks aren’t going to just flop off and crash. That is even more important if you are using one of these hot tub sized tanks, they are almost as heavy as the mod itself. Well, I am happy to report that Laisimo done it right, 510 is secured from under with a nut.

Good travel on the 510 and all my tanks sat flush and resistance was read fairly accurate. If resistance was off it was 0.02 at most which is a miniscule amount which won’t make much of a difference if at all.

I try to fully disassemble every mod but the power button would have likely broke if I continued.

Power Performance

Now I don’t have a tank that will take 360 watts nor do I want one, just not my style. I do have some Melo 300 coils which are rated at 300 watts and I know they will do 250 watts so I apologized to my esophagus and tried it…sigh. First I compared with my Triade DNA250 at 250 watts, both mods with fresh off the charger Sony VTC5A batteries which is at a minimum what you need to get those numbers. Really it was so hot that it is hard to compare but I was able to handle 1 second draws with just loads of clouds. From as much as I could take the F4 seemed to be a match, then I went to 300…idiot. At 300 watts on the F4 I was able to handle half second draws, not the He Man like 1 second draws I was taking at 250 watts. Whether it was hitting 300 watts I can’t tell you for sure but it sure was hotter than 250. I will leave the oscilloscope tech ratings to the pros like @Anthony_Vapes and Daniel.

A couple of items are missing like a preheat or power curve. Not sure how popular those are but it would be nice to have the option. I did find myself taking a primer hit on a cold tank to get the coil heat up before taking a draw, this could be alleviated with a preheat but all in all it wasn’t bad and minimal fire delay.

TC Performance

In general I have been happy with Laisimo’s TC performance in past mods like the Snowwolf 200W Plus and the F4 was no different. It is not as accurate as a DNA or Yihi chip but it is pretty damn close and provides a very satisfying and smooth draw. At 430f I was able to vape my cotton dry without any burnt hits most of the time. On a few occasions with larger SS316L coils I would have to turn down the temp, sometimes as low as 415f to avoid dry hits. My theory is this was happening with large Alien coils and they tend to take longer to cool down, the F4 may have taken just a little too long to engage TC. With more normal SS316L coils I did not have this problem including some quad core fused claptons but they used 30g core with a 40g outer wrap.

There are 2 DIY modes in which you can set your own TCR, I did not get too deep into that as the preset SS mode worked so well for me but in my limited testing it worked reasonably well.

One thing I find to be a big con is wattage is limited to 120 when in temp mode, makes no sense to me and at times felt I needed more. I am hoping the Laisimo engineers can address this issue prior to release.

The dreaded “New Atomizer” screen…NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I am hoping and praying the Laisimo engineers fix this, if not then get use to seeing this a LOT.

It doesn’t just happen when you attach a new tank or power on the mod, it happens soooo much, same bug they have with the Laisimo Snowwolf 200W Plus. It defaults to “No” so I got use to just hitting the fire button and if I got no vapor I hit it 2 more times, once to confirm it is “Not” a new tank and a second time to vape. If your chain vaping it doesn’t do it, you can take 20 hits in a row if you want without the confirmation screen. Put it down for awhile though and it feels like 8 times out of 10 you get that dreaded screen.

I did find something interesting though, I had a 0.20 ohm build and switched to a 0.16 build. When the confirmation screen came up I said no to see if it would keep the 0.20 setting but it read it right and displayed 0.16 ohms. I don’t find that as a con as it is doing the right thing but then why do we need the confirmation screen? In the owner’s manual it states to press the - and power button at the same time to read the resistance when in TC mode, why is it redundant? If they just got rid of the confirmation screen it would make life so much better.

Battery Life

I got no complaints here, I felt the F4 used the (4) 2600 mah VTC5A batteries well. I was able to get 360 puffs vaping between 120 to 135 watts which is pretty good. As I type this I have over 500 puffs with a mix of TC vaping and Power mode at 100 watts. I just removed the batteries and measured 3.53V on 3 and 3.54V on the 4th, that is excellent and it is still providing a nice powerful vape. This was with the side LED’s on all the time, I actually sort of like them. You can get a little more battery life by turning them off though.

The USB does charge the batteries although personally I would not recommend it. I did not try to fully charge my batteries in the mod but I did measure an increase in the volts after being plugged in for a bit and it did a decent job. No passthrough, when plugged in to charge you cannot take a vape which is smart IMO for a mod this size.

The battery bank feature does work, to engage you hold both the - and + for 2 seconds to enter the mode menu. Just scroll until you get to the power bank symbol, hit the fire button and the small LED to the side of the USB interface lights up. I was able to charge another mod and also my cell phone, may come in handy. You cannot vape while the mod is being used a power bank though, you have to choose, vape or phone, vape or phone…just live without your phone for a bit and vape dammit… Priorities…haha

Pros

  • The only regulated mod I can think of that accommodates 41mm tanks with no overhang aside from custom mods. The Hammer of God Mechanical mod will accommodate 41mm tanks as well
  • Great TC performance
  • Great battery life
  • Secure 510
  • Accurate ohm reading
  • No button rattle
  • Large easy to read color screen
  • Easy to navigate menu
  • Power bank option
  • Discharges all 4 batteries evenly

Cons

  • Biggest con is the constant asking if it is a new atomizer attached
  • Battery door has a little flex
  • Watts limited to 120 in TC mode
  • LED on one side of my pre-release beta would go out then some back at random times
  • You may get teased you are carrying around a mini fridge but just explain to them that you have MAN hands!
  • No preheat settings

Conclusion

Please keep in mind that I was given a beta version and Laisimo engineers are still working on the F4, as of the date of this review a release date is still not known. With that said I still really enjoy using the F4, if they just fix the new atomizer check and remove the 120 watt limit in TC mode that would be enough for me. Of course if they addressed all the problems I found I would but another one in a heartbeat, who knows I might just do that anyway if the first 2 are addressed.

I am very encouraged that Laisimo is delaying the release until problems are solved, what those problems are aside from what I found is not known to me. I am going to continue using the F4 I have even with the problems as none of them are a safety hazard, just an annoyance but not enough for me to stop using it.

I want to thank Laisimo for sending me the F4 for review, it will join the other 4 Laisimo mods I purchased and enjoy in my collection. For more info you can visit there website at: http://www.laisimo.com/goods-59.html

If you want to see how the Laisimo F4 compares to other mods come check out http://www.steampugs.co.uk and meet the crew.

How often do you rewick you RTA/RDTA/RDA?

@Kenbu wrote:

Hey all,

Just wondering how often do you guys rewick your tank?
For me, I find that I have to do it every 2-3 days depending on use but anywhere after 3 days, the flavor is just off.

I’m just wondering if this is common because I only recently started using an RTA after using sub ohms for so long. Just feel like I need to rewick every other day to get the best out of the juice I’m using.

Please share your experience and advices.

Also, looking to buy some more Japanese organic cotton, if anyone has any suggestion on some affordable cotton please feel free to share.

Thanks.

Age verification - selling vaping products

@SPG wrote:

Hi
Has anyone got experience selling vape products through e-bay?
My last stumbling block is getting an Age verification put in place. Any ideas which is the best data base etc to use?
I’ve been given - 192 - VouchID and experian ID check to look into and just wondered if there are any others that are cheaper or wouldn’t it be great if FREE.
Or does one have to do these checks at all if buyer confirms that they are over 18?
I’d appreciate any info…
Thanks.
